2.1.7 Lab Steps
Step 1: Connect the USB Hub to the Computer
- Switch to the back view of the computer.
- From Inventory, expand Networking Devices and drag the External USB Hub to the workspace.
- Switch to the back view of the USB hub.
- From Inventory, expand Cables and select USB Cable Mini-B to Type A.
- Drag the Mini-B connector into the USB port on the back of the hub.
- Drag the Type A connector into an open USB port on the back of the computer.
- Switch to the front view of the hub.
Step 2: Connect the Inkjet Printer to the Hub
- Switch to the back view of the inkjet printer.
- From Inventory, select USB Cable Type B to Type A.
- Drag the Type B connector into the USB port on the inkjet printer.
- Drag the Type A connector into USB Port 1 on the hub.
Step 3: Connect the Laser Printer to the Hub
- Switch to the back view of the laser printer.
- From Inventory, select USB Cable Type B to Type A.
- Drag the Type B connector into the USB port on the laser printer.
- Drag the Type A connector into USB Port 2 on the hub.
Step 4: Connect the Scanner to the Hub
- Switch to the back view of the scanner.
- From Inventory, select USB Cable Type B to Type A.
- Drag the Type B connector into the USB port on the scanner.
- Drag the Type A connector into USB Port 3 on the hub.
Step 5: Connect the Portable Hard Drive to the Computer
- From Inventory, expand Storage and drag the Portable USB Hard Drive to the workspace.
- Switch to the back view of the hard drive.
- From Inventory, expand Cables and select USB Cable Mini-B to Type A.
- Drag the Mini-B connector into the USB port on the hard drive.
- Drag the Type A connector into an open USB port on the computer, not the hub.
